Thanks to the generosity of Board members,
alumni and friends, ISH moved to its present location in 1947. In
1967 construction began on Van Slyck Hall and twenty years later
Marpat Hall was purchased. A small permanent endowment and reserve
fund were established. Although the Endowment Fund has improved
in recent years, ISH remains under-endowed.
Virtually every aspect of ISH will benefit
from the increased revenue and security created from a general restricted
endowment. Increasing the size of the endowment generates larger
amounts of interest income annually, allowing the House to better
serve its residents. Together with the savings the retirement of
the mortgage has generated, these additional funds would bring the
budget into balance, and better provide an atmosphere necessary
to achieving the global mission of ISH.
