Meet the Staff

Daniel Bremer-Wirtig

Daniel stepped into his role as Executive Director at International Student House, Washington DC in March 2020. In his leadership at I-House DC, Daniel directs the professional staff, ensuring the House continually achieves its mission of offering an exceptional home for students, interns, and young professionals from around the world.

Before joining I-House DC, Daniel was the Director for External Affairs at Global Ties U.S., an international non-profit organization based in Washington, D.C., dedicated to promoting citizen diplomacy through international exchange. Prior to his tenure at Global Ties U.S., he functioned as the Associate Director of Government Relations at the National Council for Community & Education Partnerships and as the Director of Communications and Government Relations at Terracom Inc.

In addition to these positions, Daniel acquired valuable experience in various roles at The Washington Center for Internship and Academic Semesters and the State Youth Institute, Government of the State of Nuevo Leon.

Linda-Claire Arnett

Claire, currently serving as Senior Manager of Development and Communications at International Student House, Washington DC, plays a crucial part in the organization’s daily operations. As the primary contact for I-House DC, Claire works closely with Executive Director Daniel Bremer-Wirtig, ensuring the seamless execution of events and activities. Her responsibilities include assisting in project planning, development, and implementation, as well as leading all external events and fundraising efforts on behalf of I-House DC.

Claire’s past experience reveals her dedication to public service and international relations. She obtained her degree from Oregon State University, focusing on International Relations and Asian Pacific studies. During her university years, Claire chaired the outreach and volunteer committee within her sorority. Upon completing her studies, she moved to Everett, Washington to support Congressman Rick Larsen’s successful re-election campaign. As the southern region field manager, she supervised a team of 15 interns and directed the campaign’s outreach initiatives.

José Barillas

José Adán Barillas Rodríguez is the Manager of Office and Facilities Operations at the International Student House of Washington, DC (ISH-DC). He oversees daily operations, building services, and administrative tasks for the organization’s residential and event spaces. In this role, he ensures that facilities, vendors, safety procedures, and internal systems function well to support I-House DC’s mission of international exchange, community living, and education. He collaborates closely with senior leadership and staff to maintain a safe, welcoming, and organized environment for residents, staff, and partners.

José has over twenty years of experience in operations, logistics, planning, customer service, and project coordination in both international and U.S. settings. He has held senior positions in supply chain planning, materials management, production coordination, and financial operations across manufacturing, transportation, and service industries. Throughout his career, he has managed budgets, vendor relationships, reports, and daily workflows while leading teams and fostering organizational growth. He is recognized for his strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and teamwork-oriented leadership style.

Originally from Nicaragua, José has worked in international and multicultural environments throughout his career. He has teamed up with partners, suppliers, and organizations in various countries, giving him a broad global perspective in his work at I-House DC. He is dedicated to international exchange and supports a residential community built on cultural understanding, shared responsibility, and mutual respect. José focuses on creating effective systems that help people connect and live well together.

Oshin Bista
Adrienne Wild

Adrienne serves as the Manager of Communications and Events for the International Student House of DC, where she supports the development and implementation of its communication strategies. In efforts to broaden awareness and support of I-House DC, she drafts and manages brand-enhancing content for the organization’s multiple platforms. Adrienne also assists with the planning and execution of fundraising events and internal programs.

A graduate of Towson University with a B.S. in English, Adrienne has a passion for writing and fostering meaningful discourse in creative ways. In her practice as a realtor, she finds joy in supporting clients through life’s big moments. Adrienne has always loved to travel and has visited over 15 countries. In the last few years she has participated in several international learning tours, through which she has gained insight into the social standards, cultures, and challenges of communities around the world. In doing so, Adrienne has developed a deep appreciation for intercultural exchange and a firm belief in the value of global citizenship.

Our Mission & Vision

Hundreds of residents

96 international scholars at one time; 300 residents from 70 countries each year. About 15,000 individuals representing more than 140 countries, including the United States, have lived at the House since its founding Residents are graduate students, scholars, researchers, and interns. The average age of students is 27 years old. Average stays are six months to one year.
