The Meserve-Lloyd House of International Student House of Washington, D.C. provides a unique and historic venue for dinners or receptions, business conferences or meetings, and corporate events.
The House is located in the heart of Washington, DC’s dynamic Dupont Circle neighborhood in close proximity to the Metro system and other public transportation. Built in 1912 as a private residence, the Meserve-Lloyd House evokes characteristics of the Tudor Era. One distinctive feature of the House is the leaded glass windows, the most striking of which is a semi-circular bay enclosing the landing of the grand staircase. The second-floor gallery also has large leaded windows and floor to ceiling dark oak wainscoting, as do the Library and Study. The House’s magnificent two-story Great Hall is modeled after a space in Haddon Hall in Derbyshire, England. Furnishings include original pieces dating backing to the Elizabethan era and the Renaissance Revival period.

Our location
The Meserve-Lloyd House is located in the heart of Washington, DC’s historic Dupont Circle neighborhood in close proximity to the Metro system and other public transportation.
Metro
Dupont Circle Metro Station is two blocks away from the House. Take the Red Line and get off at the Dupont Circle station. Use the Q Street/North Exit. Cross over Connecticut Avenue to 19th Street (about 1 block), turn left onto 19th Street towards R Street. Turn right onto R Street and proceed to 1825 R Street, halfway down the block on your left.
Vehicles
R Street is one-way going west, so the approach is from 18th Street or a lower-numbered street. The house is on the right-hand side of the street, halfway down the block.

Equipment and Services
I-House DC’s chairs and tables can be set up in a variety of configurations. Hosts will have a space’s regular furnishings plus the following at their disposal:
- 100 black conference-style chairs
- 24 6 ft folding tables
- 18 slim folding tables
- 9 round 5-foot tables
- 4 round 6-foot tables
- Tablecloths in a variety of colors
- Place settings for up to 30 guests
- Lectern
- YAMAHA concert piano
I-House DC can also assist with connecting clients with our preferred equipment rental company, Party Rentals Ltd for additional items including chivari chairs, chargers, other linens, plates, etc.
Audio/Visual and Technology
Wi-Fi and Ethernet connections are available throughout the House. Portable projector and screen can be set up in any space. Available screens are 8’ x 5’ and 6’ x 4’. The Great Hall has a sound system, including microphone setup, ready to be connected to your computer or projector.
Catering
Sodexo Inc. & Affiliates has the exclusive catering contract for all events held at the House. Our professional kitchen can customize a large variety of menus for every occasion, from reception appetizers to a full meal. Menus are available upon request. Please submit catering requests at time of rental to receive a quote. I-House DC provides competitive rates based on the current market prices.
Alcohol
You are welcome to provide your own alcohol selection or I-House DC can place orders through our preferred vendor, Cairo Wine and Liquors. Due to liability guidelines, I-House DC is required to hire a certified licensed bartender to serve alcohol at your event. This fee will be added to your final invoice.
Valet
For events with attendance of 50 guests or more, I-House DC recommends valet parking. Our preferred vendor, MJ Valet, provides quality service while ensuring you pay for what you only need. Please contact International Student House when planning your event for a price quote.
Vendors
You are welcome to use a vendor of your choice (except for Catering) or I-House DC can recommend some vendors familiar with our spaces. Vendors must be in good standing with I-House DC and have the appropriate documentation and insurance certification on file.
