The House is delighted to partner with Howard University to welcome 20 Howard students to reside at the International Student House of Washington, DC, during the university’s winter housing closure this December and January.
Through this special Home is Here partnership with the Howard University Student Association, the House is able to offer an alternative, supportive community to students during the university’s winter housing closure, ensuring they have a welcoming place to call home throughout the break. This collaboration reflects our long-standing commitment to fostering belonging, opportunity, and global connection—core elements of the International Student House mission.
We are especially excited to welcome our “neighbors,” who join us from six additional countries represented in our community: Belize, Ethiopia, Guyana, Nigeria, Nepal, and Tanzania. Their presence will enrich the cultural and international fabric that makes the House a uniquely vibrant home. These students also bring an impressive range of academic pursuits—from musical theater and physics to nursing, applied science, and computer science—further enriching the vibrancy and diversity of our Resident community.
As we welcome these young scholars, we look forward to providing not only a safe and comfortable living environment but also opportunities for meaningful connection. Our hope is that their time at the House fosters lifelong friendships, intercultural understanding, and shared experiences that transcend academic fields and backgrounds.
Partnerships like this strengthen our mission and remind us of the power of a community that continues to grow, diversify, and inspire. Welcome, Bisons!
