On May 2nd, I-House DC welcomed its newest staff member to the team as Director of Resident Experience and Strategic Operations. In this key senior leadership position, Valerie Ong is responsible for overseeing and managing the strategic planning and execution of the organization’s residential services functions to maximize occupancy, deliver high-quality services to Residents, and optimize operational effectiveness and customer satisfaction.
Valerie brings over a decade of relevant experience, including her time as Resident Engagement Manager at UC Berkeley’s International Student House, where she designed and executed educational programs that enhanced cross-cultural understanding among over 600 residents from 60+ countries. Additionally, Valerie has held roles at several higher education institutions. Most recently, she worked at The White House under the Biden-Harris administration, where she served as Acting Director of President Gifts, subsequent to her role as Deputy Director of Employee Engagement and Leadership Development.
Once an international student to the US, Valerie attributes much of her appreciation for cultural exchange to her experience living, studying, and working internationally. She is committed to fostering understanding, dialogue, and collaboration and is eager to apply these values in contributing to the I-House DC mission. Learn more about Valerie here.
