Board Member: Tangley Lloyd

Tangley Lloyd is a psychotherapist and trained mental health professional.  Much of her work has focused on family social dynamics.  She also serves as the Chair of the Demarest Lloyd, Jr. Foundation, and has also been an active volunteer with the American Red Cross for many years.  Tangley is the granddaughter of Demarest Lloyd, the second and final private owner of 1825 R Street, NW, ISH’s Main Hall.  It was the Lloyd family which sold the house to the American Friends Service Committee for use as International Student House.

In her work with the Red Cross, Tangley has served nationally as a mental health worker in the Mississippi and Iowa floods, Oklahoma tornadoes, hurricanes Irene and Floyd in Florida and North Carolina.  Earlier in her career, she worked at Burke Rehabilitation Hospital in White Plains, New York and Person-to-Person in Darien, Connecticut.  Tangley has also served several two boards of Columbia University School of Social work.
