Appointed by President Obama in 2009 as the Ambassador-at-Large for War Crime Issues, Stephen Rapp has worked on promoting justice and accountability across the globe for over two decades. Prior to his appointment, Ambassador Rapp served as Prosecutor of the Special Court for Sierra Leone beginning in January 2007, Senior Trial Attorney and Chief of Prosecutions at the International Criminal Tribunal for Rwanda from 2001 to 2007, and United States Attorney in the Northern District of Iowa from 1993 to 2001.
