November’s Volunteer Opportunity is Provided by the Covenant House!
Last March, a group of ISH residents (some of whom are still at ISH) had an amazing experience sleeping out to raise awareness for homeless youth. You can read about it on our website here.
If you are interested in learning more about how you can be involved, RSVP below! The group will meet on Sunday, November 9th at 2pm in the Great Hall to discuss the details. Note, the sleep out is actually on November 20th.

This November, the Covenant House will organize leaders across North America to spend one night on the streets to raise awareness for the plight of homeless youth.
Here are some of the accomplishments the Covenant House made last year.
Covenant House Washington Provided:
- 53,890 meals to hungry young people and their children in need of food
- Housing and sanctuary to 409 young people and their children through our residential programs
- Educational, work readiness and employment supports to 227 young people through our Adult Basic Education and General Equivalency Diploma (GED) program
- Employment support that helped 84 young people attain employment
- Quality in-school, after-school, and summer programming to 262 pre-teens through our Prevention Services Program
- Nearly 30% of DC’s GEDs earned by 18-24 year olds through Covenant House Washington’s Work Readiness and Education Training (WRET) program
