Malcolm Lee was most recently Managing Director and Head of Policy for International Government Relations in Alibaba Group, a Chinese multinational conglomerate specializing in e-commerce, retail, Internet and technology (revenue of $ 39.9 billion USD in FY 2018). He has been deeply involved with China policy and engagement for several decades.
Mr. Lee served under both President Clinton and President Obama in the White House, the Commerce Department, the National Economic Council, the National Security Council and the State Department on economic, trade, technology, IP, investment, Asia and China policy.
In the private sector, Mr. Lee helped lead international and China policy and strategy for Microsoft, and global trade policy and Asia government relations at Cisco Systems.
He was an elected governor of AmCham China and Board member of USITO.
Mr. Lee began his career as a trade lawyer and worked as a legislative aide to U.S. Senator Arlen Specter.
He received his B.A., cum laude, from Yale College (Economics-Political Science and East Asian Studies) and his J.D. from University of Pennsylvania School of Law.
